WILLIAMSBURG -- The Rev. Homer Conlin, pastor of Sally Gap Baptist Church and a teacher at Corbin Area Vocational Education Center, died Thursday at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, apparently of a heart attack. Mr. Conlin, who lived on North 11th Street, was 67.
He had been pastor of the small church for the last 25 years.
He taught auto mechanics at the vocational school and had been an adviser for the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America for many years.
Mr. Conlin attended the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University and Cumberland College.
He was a member of the Kentucky and American vocational associations and the Optimist Club.
He also had coached Little League baseball and basketball.
He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Ethelda Conlin; a daughter, Pamela Upton of Lexington; three sons, Patrick Conlin, Tony Conlin and Timothy Conlin, all of Williamsburg; a sister; two brothers; seven grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Croley Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 8 a.m. today.
