Grand Island Independent, October 27, 1999. Daniel Virts, 52, of Lincoln died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Berean Church in Lincoln. Mr. Virts was born on April 28, 1947, in Minot, N.D., to Donald and Ethel (Bosserman) Virts. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1966 and moved to Lincoln with his family in 1971. He attended Prairie Valley Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, for two years. He graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford with an associate's degree in computer programming. He retired after becoming blind 11 years ago. Survivors include his mother, of Lincoln; four sisters, Virginia (Mrs. Harold) Nunnenkamp of Aurora, Ruth (Mrs. Bob) Westwood of Moab, Utah, and Esther (Mrs. Steven) Teele and Pris (Mrs. Dwight) Johnson, both of Lincoln; and five brothers, Paul of Atlanta, David of Lebanon, Tenn., Joel of Pretty Prairie, Kan., and John and Don, both of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his father.
