      Martha Alice Payne Clarke of Fredericksburg, VA formerly of Bealeton, VA passed away on October 3, 2005 at the Colonnades Nursing Home, Charlottesville, VA. She was born in Rappahannock county to the late Sanford Jackson and Mary Bradford Payne. She is survived by her daughter June A. Clarke of Fredericksburg, VA, sisters Nina Thorpe of The Plains, VA, Lucy Stockslager of Rockville, MD and a granddaughter Alice Keys of Charlottesville, VA. She was a member of Remington Baptist Church and an active member of Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association. A graveside service will be held by the Rev. James Branyon on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 10:30am at Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
