- Dryden, VA Georgia Parsons Edens age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Lee Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born in Scott County, VA, the last surviving member of the late Palmer and Mary Alice Wilson Parsons.
She had lived in the Dryden area most of her life, was a member of the Dryden Baptist Church. She was a member of the Powell Valley Rebekah Lodge # 50. Georgia had worked in the cafeteria at the Dryden School, Old Lee General Hospital, and later the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA. She loved gardening and attending her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Edens in 1964. Twin Brother, George Parsons, sister, Ora Belcher and daughters, Lucille Barker and Frances Oaks.
Survivors include one daughter; Charlotte Collins and husband Jack of Jonesville, VA. Two sons; Gerald Edens of Dryden, VA. Larry Donald Edens of Jonesville, VA. 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A very special friend, Bettie Hayden of Jonesville, VA
Family will recieve friends on Friday evening 6 until 8:00 p. m. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap with services following with Rev. Taylor Phelps officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday in the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.
Pallbearers will be Jim Edens, Shawn Edens, David Wynn, Jeff Collins, Judd Vanwinkle, and Eric Edens. Honorary pallbearers will be, George Belcher, David Belcher and Brad Oaks.
Sturgill Funeral Home of Pennington Gap in charge of arrangeements.
