      Clyde C. Hand, 90, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Waco. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at First Baptist Church, Arlington. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Funeral Home.

      Clyde was born in Decatur, Texas, and married Ila Lillian Speake on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938. Clyde was a teacher in South Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1946 and 1952 to 1959 and retired as Lt. Commander. An avid pianist, he played for church services and a church and social functions until his mid 80s. He was actively involved in First Baptist Church, Arlington, Kiwanis-Arlington Sundown Club, Boy Scout Troop 186, and many local groups. Clyde and Lillian lived in Arlington from 1959 to 2003, then moved to Waco to be near their daughter.

      He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Chamberlain and husband, John, of Waco; son, Dr. Jon Hand, of Glasgow, Scotland; grandchildren, Miriam Chamberlain, of Reynosa, Mexico and David Chamberlain, of Seattle, Wash.; brother, W.C. "Bill" Hand, of Ballston Lake, N.Y.
