- Opal Maxwell, 78, of Flora, died at 2:30 a.m., Sept. 30, 1992, in her residence.
Born June 20, 1914, in Casey County, KY., she was the daughter of Irvin F. and Annie L. Wethington Hicks. Her marriage was on Feb. 8, 1946, in Wabash, to Myles R. Maxwell, who died March 9, 1986.
Mrs. Maxwell was employed at Essex in Flora, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Camden, the American Legion Auxiliary. Camden, and Order of the Eastern Star No. 220, Southwest City, Missouri.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Maxwell of Galveston, Ronald Maxwell of Lafayette, and Max Shaffer of Logansport; five daughters, Wilma Greco of Provo, Ariz. Janette Miller of Delphi, Bonnie Ross of Flora, Joan Carman of Noblesville, and Carole Maroney of Lucerne; two brothers, Oral Hicks of Lafayette and Wilbur Hicks of Huntington; 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Bill Godbey officiating. Burial will be in Musselman Cemetery., Rt. 1, Camden.
Memorials may be made to the Lafayette Home Health Care Hospice.
