Mary L. Eilers, 74, of rural Nelson, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow and Loyd Hefner officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born Feb. 26, 1934, in Boonville, she was the daughter of the late Emmett W. Schanz and Mabel Mae Thomas Schanz. On March 19, 1951, she married Jack Verts. On Jan. 15, 1993, she married Elmer H. Eilers, who survives of the home. She had lived in Saline and Pettis counties most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Munroe and her husband, John E., of Nelson, Melinda Cornine and her husband, Gene, of Houstonia and Vada Kays and her husband, Jim, of Paris, Texas; one son, Schanz Lee Verts of Marshall; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Katharine Hefner and her husband, Loyd, of Lebanon; four nieces; and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great-grandson and two brothers.
