- Betty Sue Potterfield Tyler, 85, of Warrenton, VA died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Fauquier Hospital. She was the widow of W. Edmund Ned Tyler. Born March 11, 1925 in Loudoun County, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Evelyn Nisewarner Potterfield of Lovettsville, VA. On July 1, 1944 she married Ned Tyler of Aldie, VA at Fort Robison, Arkansas as he was preparing to leave for active duty in Europe. Once the war was over they resided in Blacksburg, VA and Raleigh, NC before moving to Warrenton in 1951. Before Ned retired they had a brief assignment in Kingston, Jamaica. Betty Sue spent many years in local PTAs and served as a volunteer at the Fauquier Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. As a couple Ned and Betty Sue were dedicated Hokie fans and spent many years enjoying the company of the Fun Club, they also relaxed at the Fauquier Swim Club and the Fauquier Springs Country Club and spent much time traveling. She is survived by her brother, Thomas T. Potterfield of Savannah, GA and four daughters, Susannah Tyler of Orange, VA, Roxanne (Dennis) Dinneen of Warrenton, VA, Elizabeth Betsy (Greg) Feldman of Roanoke, VA and Ruth Evelyn Eve (Tom) Roemhildt of Midlothian, VA.
