      MORGANTOWN - Vida Lee Hunter, 96, of Leitchfield died at 11 p.m. Oct. 25, 2004, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

      The Butler County native was one of the few remaining one-room school teachers. She was a teacher and school librarian for 47 years, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and received a master's in library science from Peabody College Vanderbilt University. Upon retiring as head librarian from Cohokia High School in Belleville, Ill., she and her husband, the late Lucian O. Hunter Jr., who died March 5, 1998, returned to Kentucky and remodeled his family home in Leitchfield. She has lived there for the last 27 years. The Hunter House is on the National Register of Historic Places. She was also a member of Leitchfield Christian Church, The Leitchfield Women's Club and The Grayson County Historical Society. She was a daughter of the late Roy and Alta Lee.

      Funeral will be at noon Friday at Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Hill Haven Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

      Survivors include two nieces, Meredith Mucci and her husband, Richard, of Midway, and Marjorie LeMieux and her husband, Henry, of Santa Fe, N.M.; five nephews, Jakie Hay and his wife, Joy, of Turners Station, Hunter Hay and his wife, Adele, and Kenner Hay, all of Frankfort, Joseph Wycoff and his wife, Anne, of Englewood, Fla., and John Wycoff of Bardstown; a great-niece, Monica Mucci of Midway; and a great-nephew, John Mucci of Frankfort.
