BARGER, William Frederick, "Fred," 52, passed away in Boulder, Colo., on March 8, 2000, following a lengthy struggle with a brain tumor. His tremendous faith in God comforted him until the end of his life. He is survived by loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Barger of Salem; daughter, Marissa Barger, age 11; son, David Barger, age 13, both of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Tom W. Barger of Santa Monica, Calif.; and former wife, Bonita Bradshaw of Boulder, Colo. Fred was born in Roanoke, educated in public schools in Dallas, Texas and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. He later received an M.B.A. degree from the University of Dallas. Before his final illness, he was an account executive with several computer related businesses. Private graveside service for the family will be conducted at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, followed by a memorial service at the Salem Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on the same day, both conducted by the Rev. Dean Lindsey. The family suggests any desired memorials to be made to the Terrace Heights Care Center, 2121 Mesa Dr., Boulder, CO 80304 or Salem Presbyterian Church, 41 E. Main St., Salem, VA 24153. Fred will be greatly missed by his family and by many others privileged to know him. He was a good man and a devoted father.
