El Paso - Funeral Services for Abbie Mann Thomason, wife of the late U. S. District Judge R. E. Thomason, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso.
Mrs. Thomason, 95, died Thursday at her home in El Paso.
A native of White Hall, Ill., Mrs. Thomason move to El Paso in 1917. She married R.E. Thomason then mayor of El Paso and later a member of Congress in 1927.
Mrs. Thomason was active in several cultural, philanthropic and civic organizations in El Paso.
She was an honorary life member of the Womens Auxiliary at R.E. Thomason General Hospital in El Paso; an honorary member of the El Paso Bar Associations womens auxiliary; a member of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce; a life member of the Womens Association at the University of Texas at El Paso; director of the Pan-American Round Table, a civic and cultural exchange organization; and an honorary member of the Juarez Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Thomason was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso.
She was the grandmother of Robert W. Decherd, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the A. H. Belo Corp., which publishes the Dallas Morning News.
She is also survived by a daughter, Isabelle T. Decherd of Austin; a son, William E. Thomason, of Bryan, Brazos County; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
