  Daniel Edward Peer, 83, of New Bern, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Craven Regional Medical Center. Mr. Peer served his country in during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Peer. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Cotten Chapel, with the Rev. Eddy Gabbert officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Peer; two sons, John Peer and wife, Sheri, of Nokesville, Va., and Daniel Edward Peer III and wife, Maureen, of Birdsboro, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Crystal Peer, Amanda Peer and Heather Peer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to your favorite charity. Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
