- Blue Ridge Herald, April 4, 1955
Two Loudoun County residents were killed Sunday in a four-car collision on U. S. 20 near Batavi, N.Y. Samuel G. "Buddy" Presgraves 32, and his wife Bernice Everhart Presgraves, 25, both of Hamilton, were on a vacation trip when death struck. The Presgraves' were retracing a wedding trip they took in 1953. Their death was instantaneous and the crash was so violent that as of Monday morning the New York State trooper who investigated was unable to describe how it occurred. Except that there was head-on collision, nothing was certain. Six occupants of the three other cars involved were injured and apparently could not give details as on Monday morning. Mr. Presgraves was the son of Mrs. Lottie Presgraves of Marshall and the late Samuel Presgraves, both natives of Loudoun County. His wife, the former Bernice E. Everhart, was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Everhart of Lovettsville. An, 11-month-old daughter, Pamela, survives them and was staying at the home of her Everhart grandparents in Lovettsville while her mother and father were on vacation. Mr. Presgraves is also survived by a brother, Thomas, stationed at a Texas Army post, and by three sisters, Mrs. Walter Frank of District Heights, Mrs. James Evans of Lanham, Md., and Mrs. Fred Scott of Marshall. Mrs. Presgraves, is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Fox, Lovettsville, Miss Shirley Everhart, at home, and a brother Leonard, Lovettsville. Internment was in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville.
