DECATUR - Preston Derry Ruthrauff, 83, of Decatur died 9:45 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 4, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery. Memorials: St. Paul's Lutheran Church or American Legion Post 105.
Mr. Ruthrauff was born April 12, 1919, in Decatur, the son of Preston Ruthrauff and Josephine Schaniel Ruthrauff. He retired from Mueller Co. as general foreman, Department 70, after 45 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 99, Diehard Cub Fan Club, and Mueller Retirees Club. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He married Violet N. Kallbreier on June 16, 1946. She preceded him in death Sept. 25, 1999.
Surviving are his sons, Gary Ruthrauff and wife Dolly of Oreana; Jeff Ruthrauff and wife Diana of Decatur; daughter, Janet Hirst and husband Wayne of Decatur; grandsons, Anthony Ruthrauff and wife Angela of Decatur; Dylan Hibbard and wife Michele of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Brittany, Rachael, and Baylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Keith Smith and the fourth floor nurses at St. Mary's Hospital for their compassion and caring during this most difficult time.
