Israel Edward Veritz, a well-known retired farmer, formerly of Jefferson, who has resided in Frederick in recent years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Claude T. Compher, Ballenger creek road, Friday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock, aged 88 years, after an illness of 15 weeks. He was the son of the late William and Catherine Butler Veritz, was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran church, Jefferson, and of Jefferson Council no. 127, Jr. O. U.A.M. He is survived by one son, Charles H. Veirtz, Frederick, and by two daughters, Mrs. F. J. Stockman, this city, and Mrs. Claude T. Compher, Ballenger creek pike. One sister, Mrs. Phoebe Hightman, Burkittsville, also survives; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will take place from the home of Mrs. Compher on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Middletown Lutheran cemetery. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
