Mr. George Clevenger
Mr. George Thomas Clevenger, 70, of 523 Grant Place, Frederick, died Sunday, April 25, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was the husband of Clara May Peddicord Clevenger, whom he married in 1955.
Born Dec. 22, 1928, in Brunswick, he was a son of the late Thomas Walter and Melva Lillian Baker Clevenger.
He served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer and jet engine mechanic. He served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of American Legion Post 11, Veterans of Foreign War Post 3285 and AMVETS Post 2.
He was an avid woodworker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Carlton Thomas Clevenger of Yokosuka, Japan, Command Fleet Activities, Keith Wayne Clevenger of Blytheville, Ark., Wendy Lee Nunoz and husband Miguel of San Diego, Calif., Karen Lynne Clevenger of Frederick, and Carolyn Jean Clevenger of Walkersville; two grandchildren, Corey Wayne Clevenger of Wisconsin, and Colleen Marie Conley of San Diego; five sisters, Elizabeth Louise Hanes of Adamstown, Anna Jeannette Testa of Florida, Nancy Lee Jones of Frederick, Lillian Bernice Schultz of West Virginia, and Margorie May Harding of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and two brothers, Charles Edward Clevenger of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Walter Eugene Clevenger of Frederick.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Carlton Clevenger, in 1997.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick.
Mr. Clevenger will be removed at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 199 North Place, Frederick. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Bishop James Tew will officiate.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
