      Mrs. Helen Pauline Baker, age 97 of Crestwood Village, passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital June 3rd 2015.

      She was the wife of the late Emory L. Baker.

      Born in Loudon County Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Leona Virts. Helen is preceded in death by her brother Harold Stanley Virts and wife Kathleen, her sister Kathleen Ridgley and husband Alvie, and son-in-law George West.

      She is survived by her daughter Barbara West, grand-daughter Kathy Wolford and husband Bernie, grand-son David Zimmerman, step granddaughters, Lori Larosa and husband AJ, Denise Charron and great-grandson Brian Wolford and wife Jenna. She is also survived by nephews Sonny Ridgley, Gene Virts, and Terry Virts. Helen will be greatly missed by devoted friends Ted and Joan Zimmerman, Joan Miller, and Tina Hoopengardner.

      She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

      Helen worked for many years at Price Electric, the Jefferson Diner, and later for the family business, West Oil Inc.

      She was well known by her family and friends for her Applesauce Cakes, vegetable soup, fried chicken, and apple dumplings. To all her knew her, she was "Nan". She was an animal lover and is survived by Dixie, the family beagle. Helen's favorite day of the week was when the "girls" would go to the Carousel of Beauty shop in Middletown to be pampered by best friend Norma Gray and ladies.

      The family will receive friends on Monday, June 8th 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD where services will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, June 9th 2015 at 10 AM. Rev. Katrina Holland from St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. The interment will follow at the St Paul Lutheran Church cemetery.
