- Obituary, Adamsville Register, August 30, 1925
W. S. Shirer died at his home in Newark, Thursday, Aug. 29, following a brief illness of acute indigestion with which he was stricken Monday morning. Mr. Shirer was well known to the readers of the Register having been born and reared in this community where he followed the carpenter trade for many years. He removed with his family to Newark in 1900 where he continued his chosen occupation. He was the last member of the family of James Shirer and was a veteran of the civil war.
Mr. Shirer is survived by four children, Macre, Roy, Flay and Dr. J. G. Shirer, his wife having died a little more than a year ago.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday and burial was made in the Newark cemetery. A number from Adamsville attended the obsequies.
